Choosing The Right Oil
Choosing the right oil is just as important as
changing your oil. There are several different kinds of oil to choose
from, some examples are 30W, 40W, and 50W. The W stands for weight.
Which Oil Do I
Choose?
This depends on the mileage and location of your car.
Here is a little chart to help:
Oil
Weight
30W
40W
50W |
Mileage
0-70,000
70,000-120,000
120,000+ |
|
30W-Since there's less friction on your
engine you don't need a heavy weight.
40W-Higher mileage needs more lubrication
to cover the wear on bearings.
50W- This is pretty much the same as 40W
description.
Temperature also has an effect on the oil you choose. If you live in
northern states you should stick with 30W because the heat and humidity
wont cause as much friction it might cause in southern states.
